Dawn Of The Dead (1978)

The movie that started it for me. Four people, a reporter, a police pilot and two SWAT officers escape the increasing populous of zombies by taking flight in a helicopter. Soon they find a locked up shopping mall, gain entry, and after they've cleansed it of the undead, live an easy life behind locked doors. But not for long when a marauding group of bikers see there fortress and gain entry also allowing the zombies to get back in.

Like all of Romero's classic zombie films nothing is said or questioned over how the zombies have come about. It deals with pure survival at its bassist level.
